Editorial & AI Transparency Policy
a.freshnews.ai operates AI-powered newsrooms with human oversight. This page explains how our articles are created, how AI is used, and how editorial perspectives are attributed and managed.
Last updated: November 30, 2024
What FreshNews.ai Does
FreshNews.ai provides hosted newsrooms and insight hubs for B2B companies. Our platform automatically produces:
- Short daily news briefs
- Deeper weekly or monthly insight pieces
- Optional audio and podcast formats
- Optional editorial “takes” or perspectives
We operate on behalf of our customers, using AI to scale research and drafting, and using human-defined rules, policies, and personas to keep the output aligned with each company’s voice, audience, and risk profile.
How AI Is Used in Our Newsrooms
Our newsrooms are powered by large language models (LLMs) and related AI tools. In practical terms, this means:
- Articles are drafted by AI based on curated sources, topic settings, and customer configuration.
- A separate AI layer may be used to:
- Refine tone and structure
- Suggest titles, dek (sub-headline), and hero image prompts
- Generate short editorial perspectives or “takes”
We treat AI as an editorial tool, not as an infallible authority. We instruct our models to:
- Avoid fabricating statistics or sources
- Stick to verifiable, non-sensitive information
- Summarize and synthesize rather than speculate
However, no automated system is perfect. See Fact-Checking, Sources & Limitations below.
Editorial Perspectives: Personas & Company Views
For some articles, you may see a short editorial perspective near the top of the page. This could appear as:
- A named expert’s perspective (e.g. “CISO Perspective”, “VP Product’s Take”)
- A company- or newsroom-level view (e.g. “FreshNews.ai Editorial View on behalf of [Customer]”)
Technically:
- These perspectives are often generated by a secondary AI prompt, which is instructed to:
- Focus on the strategic implications of the news, not re-summarize it
- Reflect the selected persona’s or company’s vantage point
- Use a short, clear, and professional tone (usually 1–3 sentences)
Visually and semantically:
- Perspectives are clearly marked and visually separated from the main article content (e.g. labels like “Perspective” or “Editorial View”).
- When attributed to a person, that person is represented as an expert persona in the customer’s newsroom configuration.
- When attributed to an organization, the view is presented as an editorial stance of the newsroom (e.g. FreshNews.ai on behalf of the customer).
We do not attempt to pass these perspectives off as spontaneous, independent human authoring. They are explicitly positioned as AI-assisted editorial tools guided by human-defined rules and oversight.
Human Oversight, Review & Corrections
Different customers choose different levels of human involvement. In all cases:
- The core newsroom is AI-powered, operating on an always-on publishing schedule.
- Customers and editors can:
- Hide or remove articles that do not meet their standards
- Edit or replace the editorial perspective text
- Request corrections, updates, or re-spins of topics
When an editorial perspective is edited after publication:
- The edited text replaces the AI-generated version.
- We update the article’s “last modified” metadata to reflect that a human change has been made.
- Over time, this creates an auditable record that content is not static; it is maintained and improved.
We encourage customers to review and refine important pieces, especially opinion-heavy or strategic content.
Customer-Specific Newsrooms (“On Behalf Of”)
FreshNews.ai typically operates each newsroom on behalf of a specific customer (for example, a cybersecurity provider or SaaS vendor).
In many cases:
- The publisher / author of the article is the customer’s newsroom (e.g. “a.freshnews.ai Newsroom powered by FreshNews.ai”).
- The editorial perspective may be labeled as:
- “[Customer] Perspective”, or
- “FreshNews.ai Editorial View on behalf of [Customer]”
Unless explicitly stated otherwise:
- The intent is to provide a scalable, AI-assisted editorial layer that reflects the customer’s stated priorities and messaging guardrails.
- It is not intended to represent legal, financial, or investment advice from either FreshNews.ai or the customer.
Customers may link to their own internal editorial or legal policies from their main corporate site. Where that is not yet available, this FreshNews.ai policy serves as the default transparency statement for the AI and editorial process.
Fact-Checking, Sources & Limitations
Our goal is to ground articles in real, reputable sources and to:
- Summarize current events and trends
- Highlight business or strategic implications
- Avoid sensationalism and unverified claims
However:
- LLMs can still misinterpret or over-generalize information.
- Some references may become stale as the underlying news or data changes.
- Not all source links may be surfaced in the visible article, even if they informed the draft.
You should treat all content as informational only.
- It is not legal advice, compliance advice, financial advice, or investment advice.
- You should not make high-stakes decisions based solely on any single article or perspective.
- Always confirm critical facts from primary or official sources.
If you notice an error or believe a perspective is misleading, please contact us or your newsroom owner so the article can be updated.
